School/Center Overview

The World’s First Business School

In 1881, American entrepreneur and industrialist Joseph Wharton established the world’s first collegiate school of business at the University of Pennsylvania.

Wharton’s pioneering vision was to produce graduates who would become “pillars of the state, whether in private or in public life.” The Wharton School maintains a long tradition of educating visionary business leaders in academia, business, government, and not-for-profit organizations.

Today, Wharton has expanded the scope of this vision to become the most comprehensive source of business knowledge in the world – with over 225 faculty members, 95,000 alumni, 5,000 students across 10 academic departments, 20 research centers, and more than 9,000 executive education participants annually.

The Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics (Penn LDI) is one of the first university programs to successfully cultivate multi-disciplinary research collaborations to improve the nation’s health care system. Penn LDI’s high-impact research is data-driven with a focus on policy and action.

The Project Manager is responsible for supporting and implementing Penn LDI’s policy initiatives focused on improving the health of low-income populations. The Project Manager will primarily facilitate LDI’s initiative on expanding health coverage, which includes LDI’s research partnership with an external organization, as well as managing working groups and conferences.

The Project Manager will be responsible for internal communication, planning, and timelines of projects and workplans, as well as contributing to policy analysis as needed. The role requires communication with faculty and external partners, as well as working within a team-based approach to project deliverables. The Project Manager also supports LDI’s Policy Team as needed on other initiatives, research projects, and conferences.

  • Project management of LDI’s research partnership with external partner, including contributing policy analysis. Manage LDI’s workplan for this partnership, and maintain agreed process/timelines.
  • Facilitation of LDI-led initiative on expanding health coverage.
  • Support for other LDI strategic initiatives – meetings, communications.
  • Writing and production of editorial products covering research and other contributions to the LDI Policy Team as needed.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

This position is fully funded for 3 years. Contingent upon additional funding the Project Manager position could be extended.

A Bachelor’s degree with 3 to 5 years experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, required. Master’s degree and 5-7 years of experience preferred.
