We seek a lab technician to join our group in Periodontics. The technician will assist senior-level researchers on various supervised research projects within the lab. The primary responsibility will be to assist with techniques in mouse husbandry, histology and molecular and cellular biology. Previous experience in molecular biology molecular cloning, western blot, DNA isolation, RNA extraction, and PCR is preferred; Other training will be provided as needed. The technician will also assist in the care of mice colonies. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. The position will occasionally include working for a few hours on the weekend to check on mouse colonies.

Key responsibilities include:
1) Keeping accurate census records and manage genotyping of mice.
2) Proper use and proactive identification of problems with equipment.
3) Insure compliance with Institutional Polices regarding animal care and lab safety.
4) Help maintain standard operating procedures in laboratory


A High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Basic knowledge of laboratory environment and procedures require, and experience preferred, along with understanding of animal and experiment protocol. The position requires computer literacy, excellent organizational skills and communication skills, both oral and written.
Lab Technician A: High School Diploma or GED equivalent and 0-1 year of related experience in laboratory environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Lab Technician B: High School Diploma or GED equivalent and 1 year to 2 years of related experience in laboratory environment working with animals, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
