The University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing is dedicated to changing the world through leadership in the science and practice of nursing since 1886. In collaboration with the Dean’s Office Team and the Office of Administration, coordinates extensive communications and presentation support for the Dean and Vice Dean; develops and designs complex presentations including researching information and statistics, drafting content and producing complex and intensive presentations (e.g. powerpoint); drafts and edits daily correspondence. Under the direction of the Director, manages multiple projects and competing priorities with complex follow-up; includes the School’s annual master calendar, key leadership meetings, budgetary processing and tracking, high level search initiative support for the Dean’s leadership team, consultant and visitor plans, faculty award nomination processes and special project follow-up. Serves as secondary support for the Dean’s Executive Assistant (EA) during extended absences and on a daily basis when needed necessitating understanding of day-to-day activities and priorities. Manages the front desk of the Dean’s Office – insures coverage, provides oversight, triages calls and visitors’ needs and provides a high level of customer service.


bachelor’s degree and 2-3 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, are required. Progressively responsible administrative experience required, preferably working with key executives or administrators in higher education. Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. Strong communication skills including written and oral communications. Demonstrated ability to work independently and to function effectively in a team-oriented executive support environment. Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality, tact and diplomacy. The successful candidate must have strong initiative and problem solving skills to ensure effective follow-up and results. Strong PC skills with advanced proficiency in MS Office [Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access], the Internet and the willingness to learn new software applications. Ability to juggle numerous tasks and maintain deadlines while handling multiple requests. Ability to type at least 50wpm.
