School/Center Overview

The School of Arts and Sciences forms the foundation of the scholarly excellence that has established Penn as one of the world’s leading research universities. We teach students across all 12 Penn schools, and our academic departments span the reach from anthropology and biology to sociology and South Asian studies.


The Christopher H. Browne Center for International Politics was established in 1997 in order to promote interdisciplinary research and teaching across the University community on issues of international relations, international security, and international political economy. The Center for the Study of Ethnicity, Race, and Immigration (CSERI) gathers together faculty, visiting researchers and students from across disciplines to address common interests in the study of race, ethnicity, and immigration. CSERI’s goal is to support cutting edge research and encourage the formation of collaborative research networks at Penn and beyond. Among its activities, CSERI hosts post-doctoral fellows and visiting scholars, offers funding for graduate student research, and supports workshops led by the center’s affiliates.

The Part-time Administrator will provide administrative support for the Christopher H. Browne Center for International Politics and the Center for the Study of Ethnicity, Race and Immigration (CSERI) at the University of Pennsylvania. Duties would include managing the post-doctoral application process for both centers, managing the onboarding of post-docs and other visitors for both centers, and coordinating speaker series and conferences. This position will also coordinate undergraduate, graduate, and faculty funding applications and assist with outside grant preparation, including proposals and budgets. The Administrator will also process reimbursements for students and guest speakers, handle program purchases for both centers, and help with processing visas. Responsibilities also include managing center websites, email listings, and social media accounts, as well as organizing receptions and social events.

This is a ongoing part-time position.


A High School diploma or GED and 5 years to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred. Experiencing providing high level administrative support in a higher academic environment is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, well-organized and have the ability to multi-task. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and outstanding interpersonal skills are required. Must have the ability to work effectively under pressure and within deadlines. Experience managing websites and social media are highly desired. Experience in assisting with the preparation of grants is also preferred.
