School/Center Overview

Residential & Hospitality Services (RHS) provides essential 24/7 services for the University of Pennsylvania, comprising student housing, residential and campus dining services, conference and event services, University Club operations, and services for those seeking off campus housing. RHS responsibilities include administering housing-related services to 11 College Houses and Sansom Place (graduate and undergraduate housing) across campus, working with other partners to provide students and guests with services that support living and learning in the University residences; and overseeing numerous food operations and dining services to ensure delivery of consistent, high-quality food to a diverse on-campus clientele through a wide variety of venues.


The Conference and Program Manager Hospitality Services (HS) is responsible for developing and managing the on-campus partner relationships to facilitate the needs of our customers. This position will serve as an account manager position responsible for external organizations and University of Penn clients who may host a variety of academic based symposiums, various conferences and events. Also includes potential sports and youth groups and other summer groups requiring lodging in residence halls. Thus, as a member of this dynamic organization, you will be expected to work outside of your regular shift during peak activity periods May – August (e.g.: Summer Conferences, Summer Camp Season & Move-in) This position reports to Associate Director of Conference and Programs (HS) and works closely with General Manager (HS) and Operations Team as part of the HS team in achieving the department’s financial goals and product and service excellence. A relevant Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, are required; 3 years to 5 years of experience preferred.. Ability to provide superior customer service. Evidence of strong relationship management skills. Experience in a university/academic setting highly regarded. Masters degree preferred. Demonstrated experience with program development and delivery. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communications skills. Demonstrated ability to work as a team member and to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to work independently. Availability and willingness to work alternative work schedule, including during summer and evenings/weekends as client program requires.

The Department of Residential and Hospitality Services provides essential 24/7 services for the University of Pennsylvania. Thus, as a member of this dynamic organization, you will be expected to work outside of your regular shift i.e. weekends during peak activity periods May – August (e.g.: Summer Conferences, Summer Camp Season & Move-in) or when normal campus operations are suspended (e.g.: inclement weather). To the extent possible, managers will provide timely notice of modified work schedules.
