Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to feeding, grooming, placing standing wraps, as well as handling and restraint for procedures and diagnostics. Procedures will include areas such as radiology, ultrasound, and standing surgery. Admitting and discharging patients, cleaning and stocking treatment areas, and helping to maintain the hospital and clean as necessary is also expected. Other duties include helping to maintain the equipment used in the hospital, and any other duties as requested by a nurse or veterinarian within the employee’s comfort and knowledge level. Light stall mucking and cleaning may also be expected. Milking of hospitalized dairy cows will also be a required skill, shared with the large animal attendants.

Position located in Kennett Sq., No public transportation available.

Qualifications

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our patient care team, with minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Individual must have at least 1 year of experience in either caring for horses in a stable or barn (even if they are your own) , or another veterinary hospital. Previous veterinary experience is not required, but will be seen as an advantage when filling this position. The individual must be comfortable handling all types of horses, including stallions, racehorses, and foals. Experience with other large animal species such as cows, sheep, goats, and camelid species will also be advantageous for this position. The individual must be able to work independently, and able to communicate well with colleagues. Must be able to work evening hours, including weekends and holidays.
