Duties

The Associate Director of Research will contribute to the development of the Wharton Social Impact Initiative’s multidisciplinary research agenda and larger body of work. The Associate Director will help accelerate and expand the Wharton Impact Research & Evaluation Database (WIRED); scope and design new research projects; and analyze data, synthesize findings, and write reports and white papers. In this role, the Associate Director will liaise with diverse industry and academic stakeholders to ensure strong relationships, effective data collection, and completion of all research deliverables on time and within budget.

The preferred candidate will have:
* Skill and experience in quantitative and qualitative research methods (e.g., familiarity with statistical software packages, interviews and surveys, case studies, document coding, and database management)
* Experience conducting and writing academic literature reviews with the demonstrated ability to synthesize findings across disciplines
* Demonstrated ability with writing for both technical and non-technical audiences in a business discipline (e.g., finance, economics, management, impact investing, etc.)

Qualifications
  • A Master’s Degree or more and 3 – 4 years of experience, with an emphasis on quantitative research methods and statistical analysis (non-Ph.D. candidates with direct research experience will be considered)
    * 2-3 years of post-graduate experience in the private or non-profit sector (preferred)
    * Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
    * Ability to work independently, and as part of a team, including the ability to maintain professional and effective relationships with project staff, faculty, and industry practitioners
    * Strong project management skills and exceptional attention to detail
