Penn Global provides strategic direction for Penn’s global endeavors with a focus on efficient investment of university resources for global activities. Penn Global collaborates with Schools and Centers across the University and seeks to catalyze cross-school collaborations to integrate knowledge that addresses key issues. We partner with leaders from Penn and around the world to develop innovative interdisciplinary global strategies, initiatives and programs. In addition, Penn Global provides important services in support of University endeavors, including academic year study abroad, immigration services for international students and operational, compliance support for international projects and Perry World House. http://global.upenn.edu/

Duties

Drive Perry World House’s Global Shifts: Migration, Urbanization, and Demography research theme, which is a part of the Global Innovation Program, the vehicle through which we bring Penn’s academic knowledge to bear on pressing global policy challenges.
Through strategic convening, publications, partnerships, and public engagement, the Global Shifts theme facilitates research and identifies and advances evidence-based policies that promote people-centered, sensitive, humane, dignified, gender-responsive, and timely attention to the range of human movements in an increasingly displaced global environment.
In coordination with faculty directors, the Program Manager will research and author reports, white papers, blog posts, opinion pieces, etc.; plan and execute annual public colloquia, workshops, lectures, symposia, etc.; engage Penn faculty, think tanks, academic institutions, and other external stakeholders to advance the work; and leverage insights and knowledge through strategic communications.
The Program Manager will utilize her/his expertise and networks in the Global Shifts area to identify prospective Visiting Fellows and Scholars and will manage the related outreach, visit planning, and output.
Develop and implement undergraduate student programming, including annual career week, weekly public lectures, and rapid response programming.
Produce presentation and development materials and participate in the grant writing process for thematic area, as needed.

Qualifications

BA/BS required, a Master’s Degree or higher strongly preferred plus 3 years to 5 years of work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Candidate should have extensive academic and programmatic expertise in the thematic area of Global Shifts: Migration, Urbanization, and Demography; have undertaken policy-relevant research with a global focus; thrive in a multi-faceted, faced-paced environment; have exceptional writing, editing, and public presentation skills across multiple platforms; be thoroughly self motivated; and be a team player, highly collaborative, and entrepreneurial.
