The Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania is the oldest and one of the finest medical schools in the United States. The Genetic Counselor for Dr. Angela Bradbury’s Telegenetics Program is responsible for providing genetic risk assessment and counseling for both clinical patients at affiliated community hospitals and participants in a variety of remote genetic counseling studies both regionally and nationally.
The Genetic Counselor A will work under the direction of Dr. Bradbury and with Telegenetics program staff members at Penn Medicine. S/he will receive training for remote counseling protocols utilizing telephone and real-time two way videoconferencing. The Genetic Counselor A will have sufficient educational experience in both cancer and complex adult-onset disease genetic counseling to become proficient (with support) in conducting genetic counseling sessions for cancer-related genetic testing and APOE genotype disclosure in the setting of a large clinical trial. The Genetic Counselor A will need to be ABGC certified or board-eligible and eligible to apply for genetic counselor state licensure.
The Genetic Counselor B will include the above as well as be expected to perform pre and post testing independently. Review medical management strategies & collaborate with physicians caring for patients & participants. Provide genetic counseling & input for research evaluating remote genetic services, clinical quality control & programmatic initiatives in the clinical program. This may include presentations for partnering community practices& research & clinical groups within the University. The Genetic Counselor B will perform genetic risk assessment, including, obtaining and analyzing appropriate family and risk factor information for disease susceptibility; applying and interpreting risk assessment models; and obtaining reviewing and confirming medical histories. Be able to work in teams but also independently to meet programmatic goals.


Genetics Counselor A: Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling is required. State licensure to be obtained within a year of employment.
Genetics Counselor B: Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling and 2 years of experience , as well as state license, are required
