The Associate Director, Development and Alumni Communications will work closely with the University Life Central Resource Management Team (CRMT) and VPUL directors to oversee fundraising and alumni engagement activity across the division. The Associate Director is not a frontline fundraiser, but rather, a key administrative partner for gift officers and others in the University’s central office of Development and Alumni Relations. The Associate Director reports to the VPUL Executive Director, Strategy, Communications, and External Affairs, with a dotted reported line to the Assistant Vice President, Development, Undergraduate Programs, and to the Executive Director of Alumni Relations.

The Associate Director’s primary functions include: 1) Advancing divisional and departmental development priorities; 2) Overseeing alumni engagement across division and in departments; 3) Providing high-level communications assistance to, and representing, the Executive Director.

The Associate Director will oversee the creation and refinement of divisional and departmental case statements and resource priorities, working in close partnership with DAR’s Major Gifts team. These documents provide a critical introduction of VPUL initiatives to would-be donors, so clarity and storytelling skills are paramount.

The Associate Director will research potential prospects, regularly update ATLAS, and lead VPUL directors in timely and personal stewardship of gifts. The Associate Director will be a resource to VPUL colleagues to ensure that best practices are followed in all alumni and donor interactions. The Associate Director also will work closely with VPUL directors to properly code student involvements and build alumni databases for future engagement
