Information Systems & Computing (ISC) is the University of Pennsylvania’s central IT organization, providing infrastructure and services upon which Penn’s numerous Schools and Centers build their unique tools and capabilities. ISC’s 270-plus employees work closely with the University’s IT organizations in order to create, deliver and support products and services that help Schools and Centers operate efficiently and effectively. Duties

Manage Penn’s Information Security Operations Center (SOC) function, which includes overseeing the people, processes and technology related to the timely detection, prevention and response to information security events at the University. As part of this work, manage a team of highly skilled, Senior Information Security Analysts. Manage security improvement projects; maintain knowledge of changing information security threats and technologies; provide recommendations for adaptation of new technologies, procedures, or policies; investigate security incidents; perform or oversee computer forensics studies; continually refine and mature incident handling procedures and maintain incident tracking records. Prepare status reports on security matters; develop security risk analysis; keep management informed of risks and critical issues that might affect clients or University security objectives. Coach and direct more junior staff.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and a minimum of four years of leadership in an IT organization or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated strong and current knowledge of information security technologies and capabilities and the ability to lead efforts to assess the competitiveness of new technologies in relation to the overall goals and objectives of the University. Demonstrated excellent problem solving, verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills and ability to successfully manage multiple and competing priorities and to work in a complex environment. Strong customer service skills and a demonstrated ability to work well with internal and external customers, as well as contractors and vendors. Ability to effectively present technical material. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team and effectively collaborate with others.
