School/Center Overview

The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine is a global leader in veterinary education, research, and clinical care. Founded in 1884, the School is a proud member of the One Health initiative, linking human, animal, and environmental health.


This position will manage the education mission of the Department of Biomedical Sciences (BMS) while also providing administrative support to some BMS faculty. Primary responsibility is overseeing and managing the 8 courses that are offered by the Department. This position will be responsible for managing course schedules and communicating with lecturers within the Penn community. With faculty, this position develops, formats and enhances new and existing course materials using both classroom and online technologies and will assemble and upload to Penn’s course management system teaching materials, lecture notes, slides, and electronic exams. Responsible for the procurement of physical materials for classes with a lab component. Additional duties will include proctoring exams, calculating and posting grades, collecting student evaluations, disseminating evaluations to corresponding faculty, and facilitating communication between students, faculty and the School administration as needed.


A Bachelor’s Degree and 1 – 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Power Point is required; experience with virtual learning environments and course management systems such as Blackboard Learn, Canvas, and Moodle is strongly preferred. Experience working in an academic setting with faculty members is preferred. Familiarity with University systems and administration is preferred. This candidate must have strong interpersonal skills to work cooperatively with faculty, students, and staff; must be detail oriented and pro-active in daily work and have excellent written and verbal communication skills; and must have excellent organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities and concurrent courses and work independently as needed
