The successful candidate is an expert on operational efficiency and high-performing cultures and will become a trusted partner with senior leadership at the School of Nursing. Reporting to the Vice Dean for Administration and Finance and the Vice President of Human Resources, the HR Director oversees all human resource management functions and ensures uniform compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and University policies, practices and procedures, including but not limited to, staff search processes, strategic planning, training programs, and professional development. The HR Director works directly with the Division of Human Resources and all areas of central HR including Staff Relations, Compensation, Benefits, Learning and Education and Recruitment. She/He will take a leadership role in developing a culture aligned with the School’s Mission and business strategy and enables staff to perform at their greatest potential. The HR Director serves as a strategic partner to the senior leadership team on innovative HRM practices in light of ever changing funding challenges in higher education institutions. This position acts as a strategic advisor, performance enhancer and culture navigator. This role will support the University’s Human Capital Management project implementation and planning.

Beyond the traditional paradigm of administrative activities, this HR professional will:

* Be a management innovator that drives organizational excellence by creating innovative policies, programming and procedures that translate into concrete actions and tangible outcomes.
* Shape organizational structure to better align business needs and conditions with talent and capabilities and create strategies to fill gaps.
* Champion succession planning, build strategic organization and improve tactical delivery of HR services through well-developed and motivated HR personnel.
* Lead and model a culture of openness and professional development, provide workforce analyses, and proactively search out managers/leaders to forecast upcoming HR challenges.
* Evaluate current culture of recognition and acknowledgement and will develop/administer programs that drive organizational goals.
* Use technology and analytics to evaluate current state of the organization and create models of change that are evidence-based.

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred in the field of HR or organizational development; PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP certification is preferred (Certified Sr. Human Resources Professional)
    * 7 – 10 years of HR experience in professional human resources and organizational development, preferably in a University or health care setting.
    * Proven knowledge of federal/state employment laws, including EEO, ADA, ACA, FLSA & FMLA.
    * Proven knowledge of contemporary issues in HR/OD, preferably with a background in organization design and change management.
    * A record of accomplishment in administrative excellence and strategic planning of human capital management preferred
    * Prior supervisory experience and team-building skills required.
    * Strong ability to infuse energy in team environments as well as work proficiently and expeditiously individually.
    * Value-oriented behavior – trustworthiness, good listener, high integrity and commitment to serving the School’s constituencies
    * Ability to work with a diverse group of people – faculty, staff, students, and administration – at all levels; Understands and is comfortable to deal with multi-cultural competence issues in the workplace.
    * Strong understanding of discretion on sensitive and confidential matters.
    * Must have strong abilities to prioritize and manage multiple, time sensitive projects
    * Must have excellent assessment, planning, development and implementation skills
    * Must have extraordinary interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
    * Strong PC skills needed.
