JOSEPH WHARTON, FOUNDER
In 1881, American entrepreneur and industrialist Joseph Wharton established the world’s first collegiate school of business at the University of Pennsylvania.

Duties

This position requires innovative thinking, creative problem solving, teamwork, an eagerness to learn about different domains, and a passion for education. The successful candidate is a self-starter, able to work independently using initiative and gained insight to seek out and secure opportunities, and provide insights back to the Wharton Interactive team to drive success in parallel initiatives.
Product Management
• Determine customer needs and desires by remaining abreast of market information. Manages the gap between our offering and our users’ needs to get the best return for as long as appropriate.
• Manage RFP process, including the scope, costs and timeline of present and future releases
• Assesses market competition by comparing the team’s offering to that of competitors’.
• Provide source data for product line communications by defining product marketing communication objectives.
• Manage vendor technologists to document and deliver feature improvements and fixes to schedule
• Research and make recommendations on product pricing by utilizing market research data; reviewing sales costs; anticipating volume; costing special and customized orders.

Product Awareness and Adoption (Sales and Marketing)
• In conjunction with the team’s Director and Faculty Director, identify target customers (both individual faculty and institutions) to sign up for IdeaMachine initially and other products to follow.
• Work with channel partners, such as Study.net and LMS marketplaces to deliver wide scale adoption
• Develop and report on product adoption and usage key performance indicators
• Identify, recommend and execute new initiatives that focus on new market opportunities, sales/distribution channels and awareness methods.
• Oversee marketing material including the website and social media presence and documentation (e.g on boarding)
• Travel to conferences, customer sites and trade shows to demonstrate Wharton Interactive’s offerings

Process Improvement and Lifecycle Management
• Ensure the processes which support the customer experience and product lifecycle from invention through adoption and support are customer centered and deliver the highest user experience attainable.
• Maintain a lean organization,
• Conduct regular reviews of the processes which support the product lifecycle, and implement process improvement measures as necessary
• Leverage best practices provided by Agile and ITIL to create and implement adaptive, responsive, customer centered products and service experience
• Determine when a product can no longer meet the needs of the user or the business, and plan for retirement of products
Customer Support and Customer Development
• Liaise with outsourced support manager to ensure product support requests are satisfactorily handled
• Manage major incidents, coordinating technical experts, support personnel and ensuring that regular customer communications are occurring
• Arrange customer engagement touch-points in the way of webinars, newsletters and feedback opportunities
• Develop the authored template catalog offering
• Ensure Wharton Interactive delivers on its customer service level agreements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years relevant work experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience with conducting sales and marketing efforts, including meetings with potential customers about the product features and offerings
• Experience with project management and customer communications (can be internal customers) required
• Experience leading software projects following an adapted Agile approach
• Awareness of ITIL Service Management required
• Creative problem solving skills required
• Keeps abreast of technology trends required
• Strong analytical skills required
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills required
• Demonstrated ability to learn new skills and the desire to continue doing so required
• Recent demonstrated experience in needs assessment required
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work effectively within tight turnaround schedules required
• Experience with commercializing software products required
• Experience with Education Technology, preferred
