Duties

The Biobank Coordinator will identify, recruit and consent patients to obtain samples (blood) necessary for studies in Castleman disease. The candidate will need to conceptualize and prioritize which samples can be used for the research studies. Process samples (blood, lymph node, bone marrow, stool, etc.) and isolate components from them, safeguarding the integrity of the sample. Build and use RedCap and LabVantage databases. Write IRB protocols, navigating the approval process and maintaining accurate and full records for IRB review. Maintain and track large numbers of sample in multiple locations.

Qualifications

The minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in life science and 2 to 4 years of experience in performance of the job duties. Preference will be given to candidates with previous patient interaction experience, strong written and verbal communication skills and a strong track record of demonstrated organization and diligent record keeping. Attention to detail is paramount for success in this position. This position requires flexibility and commitment as the individual will be responsible for responding to patients in a timely manner, which will include some evening and weekend phone calls, text messages and emails. Must pass Pennsylvania’s Child Protective Services Act (also known as Act 73) background checks, within 30-90 days of employment.
