Duties

As staff assistant to the director of the PVAMC Center for Neurotrauma ,Neurodegeneration and Restoration (CNNR), perform administrative duties of substantial scope and complexity on a day-to-day operational basis, coordinating with counterparts at the University of Pennsylvania. Communicate on behalf of the director through independently composed correspondence, announcements, and reports as well as through interpersonal communication. Coordinate executive calendar, independently prioritizing and adjusting commitments based on shifting priorities and operational objectives. Responsible for space and material management at PVAMC laboratories Coordinate article references and online manuscript submission process; prepare slides and photographic figures for publication. Provide administrative support to the CNNR research laboratories. Assist with the preparation, submission, and administration of multiple research grants which includes writing the administrative components for submissions. Assist in the preparation, submission and renewal of IACUC documentation for CNNR. Coordinates and manages additional board and committee roles at the VA. Oversee all administrative tasks pertaining to the management and maintenance of several basic research laboratories and liaison with facilities, operations, IS, and telecommunications on behalf of CNNR at PVAMC. Manage PVAMC related CNNR research seminar series, events, complex domestic and international travel plans, itineraries and agendas, and fiscal responsibility for all reimbursements. Develop and manage websites.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 3 to 5 years of previous experience with executive level support, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, are required. Exceptional organizational and time management skills – must have ability to multi-task and prioritize. Excellent writing and communication skills. Some project management experience.
