Duties

Perform, set-up and schedule behavioral studies for research animals to evaluate visual function. Train and teach students and other University personnel in methods of behavior testing; coordinate schedules for studies. Maintain inventories for behavioral studies. Oversight and maintenance of protocols for several PIs in group. Provide anesthesia for routine cases, including IV catheter placement, induction, intubation, evaluation of anesthetic depth, medication administration, maintenance and recovery. Consult with clinical veterinary staff and laboratory personnel on treatment options.

Qualifications

An Associate’s Degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA Accredited school. Certified Veterinary Technician or eligible to sit for the VTNE within 1 year of hire. 2-3 years experience as a vet tech. Flexible schedule and ability to multi-task required. Position contingent upon grant funding.
