Duties

The Senior IT Specialist/ IT Specialist C, one of three senior level IT Specialists at the School of Design, oversees all of the software planning, purchasing and installation for the entire school, including more than 700 students, nearly 200 faculty and lecturers, and 60 staff. S/he independently oversees and project manages the process of developing complex and multiple software images for various public installations, including Central Pool classrooms, labs and other public computing areas. S/he supervises the IT staff assigned to all imaging projects, identifies when new software is necessary, works closely with faculty to determine how to best meet their software and hardware needs, builds and maintains relationships with all of the software vendors, independently negotiates vendor contracts and pricing, and works closely with them to forecast technical changes and future purchases and resolve technical difficulties. The Senior IT Specialist also oversees all IT aspects of renovations to the School’s 9 buildings, including networking, working closely with the Director of Operations, Planning, Design and Construction. S/he also serves as an escalation point for more complex technical problems, works closely with faculty and staff to consult on IT and other technical needs associated with teaching, research and departmental projects, and helps lead the process for identifying new technologies for the school.

Qualifications

An Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
