The Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania is the oldest and one of the finest medical schools in the United States. Penn is rich in tradition and heritage and at the same time consistently at the forefront of new developments and innovations in medical education and research. Since its founding in 1765 the School has been a strong presence in the community and prides itself on educating the leaders of tomorrow in patient care, biomedical research, and medical education.


The Senior Marketing Manager creates, leads, and drives an aggressive marketing strategy and tactical plan for the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy’s Online Educational Initiatives (OEI). Programs include the Master of Health Care Innovation, professional development, and continuing education.

Working closely with the OEI team and leadership in an entrepreneurial environment, the Senior Marketing Manager creates strategic integrated marketing campaigns in order to 1) significantly grow program applications and enrollment from inside and outside the Penn community, and 2) establish brand awareness across the health care industry for these new initiatives. These efforts are first of their kind at PSOM and require a visionary leader who is fluent in effective marketing of innovative products in health care and/or education.

By creating and implementing content, digital, and engagement strategies to attract learners, this leader is instrumental to the OEI goal of creating the standard for high-quality, impactful, and popular online learning experiences that enhance careers in order to transform health care delivery. The successful candidate is able to identify aligned markets across B2B, B2C, and digital channels to drive enrollment with an eye toward the competitive landscape.

The Senior Marketing Manager is responsible for meeting vital enrollment and revenue goals, as well as developing and managing a significant budget. Duties include producing all aspects of a successful metrics-driven marketing strategy and tactical plan; providing the vision and implementation for a compelling brand; and promoting online programs to key stakeholders and both existing and potential markets. Inherent to the success of these efforts is the ability to continuously track and analyze the effectiveness of multi-channel campaigns.


The minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in planning and managing marketing programs, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, are required. Recent marketing experience within a health care and/or higher education setting a plus.
Strong project management skills for delivering multiple campaigns for various products on time and within budget.
Strong working knowledge of branding, Salesforce, website content management, and Google Analytics.
Demonstrated creative, metric-informed strategic thinking; results-oriented implementation; and insightful analytic and reporting skills.
Strong team orientation with the ability to be flexible with time and independently manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
