The Business Services Division (BSD) supports the individual and collective needs of the Penn community by promoting a hospitable, customer-friendly campus environment through the provision of mission-critical services and essential operations. Duties

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor Penn Transit Services, the Dispatcher, Penn Transit Services is responsible for assisting in the daily coordination of a comprehensive transportation system, which provides safe evening and late-night transit for the University of Pennsylvania community within specific service boundaries.

Responsible for the daily coordination of a vehicular escort service which provides rides for all faculty, staff and students to and from campus locations and off-campus locations within a specific radius of campus during evening and late-night service hours. This positions acts as the front line for quality control between the Penn community and Penn Transit.

Candidates need to be organized, quick thinking, work well with people both clients and fellow employees. They need to be able to handle a variable work load in what at times can be stressful conditions. They must be a self-starter and self-motivated. They must be able to work evenings, nights and weekend hours for a 10 hour rotating shift.

Qualifications

A High School Diploma or GED is required and 1 year to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous dispatching experience required (i.e. 911, taxi, paratransit). Previous Penn Shuttle Service experience preferred. Valid United States driver’s license required and Class ‘B’ CDL with ‘P’ endorsement required within 120 days of hire. Proven able to practice good customer relations at all times. Strong customer service and organizational skills required. Ability to work evenings, nights and weekend hours for a 10 hour rotating shift.
