The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine is a global leader in veterinary education, research, and clinical care. Founded in 1884, the School is a proud member of the One Health initiative, linking human, animal, and environmental health.


We are looking for a motivated, dedicated and independent individual who has experience in developing and optimizing immune targeting therapeutics and immune-based diagnostic assays. The scientist will be involved in leading efforts to develop reagents specific for use in canine and feline species. The scientist will develop reagents used for flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, ELISA and Western Blot assays. The scientist will also be involved in and oversee production of immunological reagents of canine origin to be used in vivo for diagnostic and therapeutic use in client-owned, pet animals at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine. In this position, the scientist will work closely with a group of post-doctoral fellows, graduate students and veterinarians both at the Veterinary and Medical Schools in a translational research laboratory where the primary focus is the translation and evaluation of immune based therapies into the veterinary clinic.


Education: BA/BS. PhD in Immunology or Molecular Biology or related scientific field preferred

Experience: 3-5 years of related experience including experience in qPCR, flow cytometry, IHC and phage display technology. Strong background in experimental design and assay optimization. Hands-on experience with cell based assays, proficiency in mammalian cell culture and cell line characterization. Excellent working knowledge of cell and molecular biology including cloning, mammalian gene expression, transfection, lenti- and retroviral virus production and primary cell transduction.

Skills: Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast- paced environment, managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines. Proven ability for innovation. Strong analytical and problem solving skills are required. Project and resource management experience a plus.
