School/Center Overview

The Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania is the oldest and one of the finest medical schools in the United States. Penn is rich in tradition and heritage and at the same time consistently at the forefront of new developments and innovations in medical education and research. Since its founding in 1765 the School has been a strong presence in the community and prides itself on educating the leaders of tomorrow in patient care, biomedical research, and medical education.


The Operations Coordinator serves as lead staff for Center for Global Health’s (CGH) in-country enterprises, including the Botswana-UPenn Partnership. The coordinator will have a three-pronged focus: communications (internal/external); operations (internal/external) and data management (recording/generating/identifying/reporting). The coordinator will work closely with management staff of international sites that are supported by PSOM and open to the broader Penn community. PSOM’s global partnerships include 150+ employees engaged in clinical, research and educational programs and 150+ Penn faculty, residents and student travelers annually.

The position reports to the Admin Director, CGH and will work in close coordination with CGH business office staff responsible for financial management of the BUP program. In conjunction with said staff, the Coordinator will contribution to the creation of content for managing international research, guiding new PIs in the areas of international administration, communications and operations, developing SOP’s and participating in their dissemination.


A Bachelor’s Degree and 3 to 5 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, are required.

Excellent critical thinking, analytical, verbal and written communication in a variety of media is essential. Ability to apply solid organizational and time management skills to a deadline drive, multiple priority work environment is required. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, including the ability to communicate across cultures, and handle a high volume of service requests. Experience working with international teams and facilitating cross cultural groups. Ability to work independently, under pressure of deadlines, to be flexible and contribute positively to a dynamic business environment. International research exposure and knowledge of another language(s) will be a plus.
