Duties

Reporting to the Director of Research and Prospect Management, this position provides prospect research and prospect management services in support of the Wharton School’s fundraising and engagement efforts within the division of Wharton External Affairs. The Associate Director will work closely with the Director of Research and Prospect Management to define and produce a range of research information product, with a focus on but not limited to international fundraising. Will work closely with fundraising directors and major gifts officers to ensure that prospects are being shepherded through the philanthropic cycle (identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship). He/she will use departmental, University, Internet-based, and other external sources to identify and develop profiles. He/she will also prepare and develop prospect lists for strategy discussion; as needed, will be able to provide analytical support for fundraising initiatives. With Director, will ensure that Wharton is following prospect management guidelines and tracking information correctly in the database.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and prospect research experience is required. Experience in higher education is highly desired. The ideal candidate with have experience in international prospect research and will have experience with working on a larger development staff. Occasional evening work may be required.
