School/Center Overview

Information Systems & Computing (ISC) is the University of Pennsylvania’s central IT organization, providing infrastructure and services upon which Penn’s numerous Schools and Centers build their unique tools and capabilities. ISC’s 270-plus employees work closely with the University’s IT organizations in order to create, deliver and support products and services that help Schools and Centers operate efficiently and effectively. As a member of the ISC Classroom Technology Services team, install and maintain audiovisual and computer technology in the 200 classrooms within the University’s central pool. Serve as expert resource in the installation, maintenance, repair, and support of audiovisual technology systems. Supervise all first-, second-, and third-tier maintenance, repair, and support of audiovisual technology systems in central pool classrooms. Ensure timely resolution of all support and maintenance issues, either through assignment to a CTS staff member or local support personnel or through personal intervention. Provide on-going expert technical guidance to colleagues, local support personnel, and end-users. Ensure that issue status and resolution are effectively communicated to faculty and staff stakeholders. Lead efforts to transition CTS to a more effective intake system and continuously evaluate and improve intake, issue resolution, and communication processes. Oversee technical training programs for CTS staff. Oversee and conduct technical training programs for the local support personnel.


Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of four years of experience, preferably in an academic environment, installing, maintaining, repairing, and supporting classroom audiovisual equipment and control systems or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Experience with component-level repair of audiovisual equipment. Strong customer service orientation and excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written; ability to present technical materials clearly. Ability to work with a wide variety of customers and colleagues, delivering exemplary technical support. Ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Experience with programming of Crestron control systems a plus.
