Duties

Scientific responsibilities include: Conduct molecular assays on cell preps for genomics analysis. Assays include Chromosome-Conformation-Capture-Carbon-Copy (5C) and genome-wide HiC. Perform all genomics library prep with Illumina linkers and quantification with kapa assay, as well as library pooling and placing sequencing runs. Detailed record keeping is important to keep the hundreds of samples and sample information/labels organized.
Administrative responsibilities include: leading the lab efforts for ordering and tracking reagents for a large lab of 15-20 scientists. Assist the PI to negotiate prices with vendors on lab reagents from sales representatives, training new students on equipment, calling technical support and leading efforts to fix lab equipment when it breaks down.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, developmental biology or related field and 1 year to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Highly organized and technically competent with a willingness to learn and adapt to a rapidly moving field required. Experience or high degree of interest in genomics technologies preferred. Prior experience working in a lab preferred.
