In 1881, American entrepreneur and industrialist Joseph Wharton established the world’s first collegiate school of business at the University of Pennsylvania.

Duties

The Associate Director of the Wharton Leadership Program is responsible for three major job functions: (1) managing the Wharton 101 TA fellowship program. The Associate Director will manage the planning, operations, and delivery of the TA fellowship program; more specifically, he or she will take responsibility for overseeing TA selection, training, and briefing/ debriefing of individual student mentorship experiences. (2) Supporting the development and implementation of the small group experiential learning in Wharton 101. The Associate Director will cultivate roughly 35 live case studies for students working in and across several small groups in order to address an issue, problem, or challenge facing a local service agency. (3) Supporting the creation of co-curricular programming for ‘The Leadership Journey,’ the new requirement replacing MGMT 100. Creating co-curricular programming requires that the Associate Director work closely with core teams in the Leadership Program in order to initiate or expand offerings sponsored by the P3, Ventures, and Nonprofit Board programs.

The Associate Director functions expertly in dynamic, team-based environment with rapidly-changing priorities and also collaborates with individuals at all levels of the organization. The Associate Director functions fully as a member of the Wharton Leadership Program team, and participates in the team-based events, advocacy, and outreach necessary for the development of the Wharton Global Leadership Institute.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and 3-5 years experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience required, Master degree and 3-5 years of experience in evidence-based leadership development and teamwork training preferred. Proven and effective project management skills and experience with multiple priorities. Demonstrated ability to work well with faculty, students, and administrators to create solutions meeting the needs of all parties. Ability to work both autonomously and in a team based environment. Excellent organization, communication, and analytical skills required. Experience supporting senior leaders in dynamic environments.
