School/Center Overview
Duties

The Research Nurse is responsible for the recruitment, screening and enrollment of patients on clinical trials. Once enrolled, the nurse manages the patient’s care. This includes health assessment, documentation of medical issues and medications, obtainment of laboratory specimens and conduction of other required evaluations. The nurse completes patient visits according to protocol and good clinical practice guidelines and is responsible for the documentation of all relevant information collected at protocol visits. The research nurse also works in conjunction with the investigator, other providers and staff to ensure good communication and interaction leading to safe and effective care. The Research Nurse is responsible for the supervision of research coordinators and support staff.

Qualifications

Pennsylvania registered nurse license and two to three years professional nursing experience required; BSN preferred; 3-5 years of experience preferred; HIV experience preferred; Research experience in Cell Modification (Gene Therapy) preferred. Effective problem-solving skills. Effective communication and writing skills. Ability to multi-task. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team as well as independently. Knowledge of IRB and human research protection regulations.
