School/Center Overview
Duties

This position will lead and collaborate on health policy research studies in the Division of Health Policy at the University of Pennsylvania and will require a blend of academic and private sector-like consulting and management skills. Primary responsibilities include working closely with senior executives at health systems and health insurance companies including Chief Executive Officers and Chief Medical Officers to lead implementation of experimental projects at their (research partner) sites. The individual will lead meetings to identify implementation issues at the partner site, facilitate and steer problem solving with the executive and operational teams, and play a critical liaison role with the Penn PIs. The individual would also fulfill client deliverables on a timely basis in order to meet project deadlines, including leading the development of deliverables (proposals, policy briefs, etc) to be shared externally. This position requires high level decision making and planning. We anticipate this person will travel frequently to external sites to participate in study design meetings, to lead implementation, and share analyses on a weekly basis so the ability to travel (40-70 days per year) is required.

Qualifications

A Master’s degree in a health-related field and 3 to 5 years of experience in a health-related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. MBA and private sector work experience in consulting, health system operations, or health insurer operations, are preferred. The successful candidate will be extremely well organized and resourceful. The individual must be quantitatively and analytically skilled, thrive in multi-tasking environments, and be a self-starter with a results orientation. Strong PC skill in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required. The individual will interact with a variety of internal contacts as well as high-level executives within externals organizations, so strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work autonomously in corporate environments as a high-level representative of the University of Pennsylvania team are essential. High accuracy, dependability, and attention to detail will be vital to success in the position. The individual should have the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
